I recently had the privilege of being a guest on the Paws & Effects Podcast with veterinarian Dr Carra Walters to speak about the EMMETT Technique 4 Animals.
To find out more about this amazing technique have a listen to the episode https://youtu.be/cr6MPRTN-Sk
This is what Dr Carra had to say on her LinkedIn about the interview:
"As a veterinarian who is deeply committed to evidence-based practice, I’ll admit, when I first heard about the EMMETT Technique and complementary therapies like kinesiology, I raised an eyebrow. As scientists, we’re trained to question anything that sits outside the traditional paradigm, especially when it sounds a bit mysterious or isn’t easily explained in a journal article.
But here’s the thing: in my latest episode of the Paws & Effect Podcast, I had the pleasure of interviewing Heidi Johnson, an accomplished practitioner and educator in energy-based animal therapies. Our conversation was honest, inquisitive, and at times, wonderfully challenging. We explored what the EMMETT Technique actually is, a gentle, light-touch neuromuscular therapy, and how it can play a role alongside conventional veterinary medicine.
I found myself reflecting on just how complex animal bodies and minds truly are. Sometimes, we can’t point to a neat, scientific mechanism for why something works, but the positive outcomes simply can’t be ignored. I heard stories of pets moving more freely, feeling calmer, and reconnecting with their humans in remarkable ways. And interestingly, these benefits extended far beyond just pain relief; they seemed to foster a deeper bond and responsibility between owners and their pets.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating that we replace medicine with mystery. But perhaps there’s room in our “treatment toolbox” for new approaches that empower pet owners and address wellbeing in ways we don’t yet fully understand.
If you’re a fellow veterinary professional, an animal lover, or simply curious about where science and intuition overlap, I encourage you to listen to this episode. It’s not about choosing sides, it’s about keeping the conversation open, and always putting animal welfare first.
Let’s challenge ourselves to remain curious, collaborative, and, above all, compassionate, no matter where the evidence (or uncertainty) leads us."
